Auschwitz-Birkenau was a network of concentration and extermination camps built and operated by the Nazi-Germans during the II World War. As a site of murder of 1.3 million victims, mainly polish and hungarian Jews, Auschwitz become the symbol of Holocaust. The camp became UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979; today the museum is visited every year by nearly 1,5 million people from all over the world.
